Iron Man 3 (2013)

It is hard to compete with the Avengers. My expectations were high. I suspect many people will insist they enjoyed the first two instalments before commenting on this one. Incidentally the first I really enjoyed the first two Iron Man films.

I feel bad for the writers yeah they get paid but reputation means more right?.

IM3 was not attention grabbing. The way the suit comes on reminded me of Guyver and it was interesting for a little while. They showed of the new trick too often. Peppers' twist in the end was neither shocking or unexpected.

The plot was unnecessarily elaborate; the plot twist, regarding the Mandarin, although clever, contribution little to the film and made the rest of Ben Kingsley appearances pointless. They seem to have borrowed that trick from the people that made The Other Guys and messed it up.

I liked stark depressed and wanted to see more reclusive behaviour. The bad guys seemed too bad - they were not convincing. Their objectives were lame. Why anybody would go after Iron Man in a Helicopter so willingly astounds me. The "bad guys" should have been pleased they were healthy again. Pepper had the same treatment and didn't turn into a thoughtless meat head.

The grenade style exploding bad guys seemed "silly", exploding magma seems more suited for them.

Somebody did try but IM3 is weak.

Juice (1992)

There is an idea that this film gets across explicitly which is expressed by Tupac's character 'Bishop' when he responds to the assertion that he is crazy. It was a great scene and the film really revolved around Bishops comments in that scene. The film shows the audience the effects of poverty and hopelessness combined with unbalanced people with an interest in violence.

It's basically Lord of the Flies set in New York except it's more disturbing because there are adults present who are careless, irresponsible community members that  use the kids for what they can get out of them in the depressing hopeless world they all live in together.

The people responsible for City of God must have watched this movie as the antagonists are alike.

The film is just depressing. If you want to be sad and see no hope for anybody watch this movie.

On the flip side - If you like dark humour then this is the film for you. You could watch this film and just laugh  all the way through, watching scared people do dumb things.

Antichrist

It's not fair to "review" this movie like this. I haven't watched it - so to speak. I mostly watched the naughty bits, then the last 15mins because of the naughty bits. It's looks good though, definitely one to watch - properly... someday. Sorry Lars von Trier.

My Brother the Devil

Watched this movie and I don't know what I was thinking at first, I was hoping, because of the title, that it would be like ___ but it was nothing like it. Strangely enough it is set in my own town. Anyway, what to say about this movie... ok, I'm waffling. It was good. I liked it. It's nice seeing a movie based in your own square mile(ish). It stars Said Taghmaoui, at least he's the big name for me as, he is co-responsible for La Haine. I can't tell much about this movie as I hate giving away clues for people that haven't watched it. This is the kind of film nobody should write about, people should just watch it.

OK, I can't help it the plot takes a dramatic 'bend' in this otherwise tense movie. In the end it just seems like the writer, Sally El Hosaini, had an idea for an OK joke and dressed it up in a feature length movie. Notwithstanding, the film is tense, funny and there is some brilliant acting by the likes of Amira Ghazalla. Not a main character by any stretch of the imagination but she is just so convincing in her role.

Movie highligt! As I said it's set in my city - London. One of the scenes is set along the Thames River just opposite the O2 Arena. I was stunned by the scenery so I Google-Earthed the location and found a route to it!

I won't rate this movie, it's a piece of Art.

Mike Binder Day

Awesome! Today I watched a bunch of movies. Mike Binder was the theme of the afternoon. I watched Indian Summer, FourPlay and the Private Lives of Pippa Lee. All of them awesome. It began with a hunt for Mind of the Married Man (Season 2). I cant find it to watch or buy anywhere. So out of frustration, got my Binder-comedy-fix elsewhere.
